PING pro IK Kim made a lasting impression in her first Ladies European Tour (LET) event. The 21-year-old Korean accepted an invitation to play in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and walked away with the title by three shots. The win was the third of her career.
“I’m very excited to win this week,” said Kim, who won the State Farm Classic on the LPGA earlier this year. “I tried to keep playing my game and I did a good job.”
Kim’s second round 65 gave her a lead she would never give up. She followed that with a third round 67 for a three-shot advantage entering the last round. Her final day 68, which included three birdies on the back nine where she hit every green in regulation, gave her an 18-under-par total on the Majlis Course at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.
Fellow PING pros Maria Hjorth and Anna Nordqvist finished third and fourth, respectively.
Kim relied on eleven PING clubs for her victory, including the new G15 fairway wood. She also played S57 irons (4-9), a Rapture driver, G10 5-wood, Rapture V2 20-degree hybrid and an iWi B60 putter.
