Veteran PING pro Angela Stanford and Maria Hjorth will join first-time participant Anna Nordqvist in the 11th staging of the Solheim Cup at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois August 21-23.

Stanford, who finished third in the standings, represents the U.S team for the third time. She helped the Americans to victory in 2007. Since October of last year, Stanford has won three times on the LPGA Tour.

Hjorth is making her fourth appearance for Europe. A native of Sweden, she earned a spot on the team as the result her position in the Rolex World Rankings.

For the rookie Nordqvist, her first appearance for Europe comes on the heels of winning a major championship in only her fourth LPGA start. The Swede’s win at the LPGA Championship raised her profile in the eyes of Europe’s captain Alison Nicholas who granted her one of two captains’ picks.
