A weekend sweep for PING irons and wedges also marked the first official wins for the new Rapture V2 driver and fairway woods. The distinction of the first V2 driver win goes to Nationwide Tour winner Chris Tidland, who put the new multi-metal driver in his bag the week before at the Utah Championship. LPGA winner Angela Stanford added two new V2 fairway woods to her bag last week en route to her second career title.
On the LPGA Tour, Stanford captured the Bell Micro LPGA Classic with an 11-under-par total. Her one-shot victory earned her $210,000 and moved her into 18th place on the money list. She also played a G10 driver, a mixed bag of PING irons, four Tour wedges and a Karsten Series B60 putter.
For Nationwide Tour veteran Tidland, his first-ever win came in convincing fashion as he fired a final round 64 to coast to a four-shot victory at the Albertsons Boise Open. He entered the final round tied for the lead but birdied five of his first eight holes to take a lead he wouldn’t give up. His $130,500 winner’s check moved him into 16th place on the money list and into strong contention to earn his PGA Tour card for 2009. Along with the Rapture V2 driver, he played i5 irons, four Tour-W wedges and a B60 putter.
The Champion’s Tour winner played PING i5 irons, two i5 wedges and two i3 O-size wedges.
