PING pro Lee Westwood’s come-from-behind victory at the Portugal Masters vaulted him to No. 5 in the world and into the first position in the Race For Dubai standings on the European Tour. It was Westwood’s first win in more than two years and the 30th of his career.
"It was nice to finish it off, you never know when the next win is going to come and you start to question yourself,” said Westwood. "I'm also delighted about the world rankings. I always have a good look at that and it's a reflection of my consistency. But winning is definitely a habit and I got out of the habit. Hopefully now I have won again I can win more."
The 36-year-old Englishman, who entered the final round three shots behind the leaders, birdied the first four holes to grab the lead en route to a 23-under-par total and two-shot victory. He carded rounds of 66-67-66-66 over the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura, Portugal.
Fellow PING pro Danny Willet, playing the new G15 driver and JAS Craz-D putter, finished tied for 6th to register his 8th top ten of the season.
With all 30 career victories with PING clubs in his bag, Westwood relied on a G10 driver, Rapture V2 3 and 5 woods, i10 irons, Tour-W wedges and a Redwood Anser putter.
